Cannon Tournament Concluded (05/03/2006)

The third and final round of the 1st annual Cannon tournament has concluded. The entire event took slightly longer than planned, nearly six months in total including a short break during the holiday season so people could concentrate on the important things in life. All in all the long wait was worth it. The 18 participants played a total of 77 games in three rounds of play to determine who is the master of Cannon with Keith Carter coming in first and Alex Scouras placing an honorable second. We plan to start up this annual event again in November and expect even more players this year. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Game Sales Up!(03/09/2006)

Time Magazine reports that sales in family board games were up 18% in 2005. Even without knowing the exact sales numbers this is a huge increase.

Why such a jump? I think it may come down to a few factors.

  1. The industry has made a better effort to show people that board gaming is not dead and still has something to offer. With efforts like GAMAs How About A Game commercial and Hasbros self focused Family Game Night promotion

More importantly it may be a social phenomenon caused by technology itself.

  2. With our lives often revolving around or being consumed by the constant use of electronic devices at work and at home it is nice to unplug yourself from the network for a bit and talk to people face to face across a table and a few bits of colored card board and plastic. Weather it is a silly game were you are molding things from clay made more for socializing then for competition or a bit of shared escapism with every one attempting to become the king of pirates the strength of table top gaming comes from interacting with people directly.
So unplug yourself from the network for a few hours and plug into some fun with friends and family.

2006 A New Year and Looking forward (01/02/2006)

Now that we have breached the barrier between 2005 and 2006 its time to look ahead to what the New Year has in store for PMG. The 1st annual Cannon tournament continues at Super Duper Games with strong competition in the first round. We have seen a myriad or play styles and strategies being tested against each other by closely raked players. With all Cannon matches at SDG being added to a database there is an ever-growing collection available to the public for beginners and expert players to study.

We are also looking to release our second product a space themed beer -n- pretzel strategy board game called Rocks for Sale with a smattering of tongue in cheek humor. Our Target release date is not set in stone (Yes I know it is a bad pun) we are aiming for sometime in the summer. Be certain that you will see plenty of teasers here before the release.

Of course as always we will continue to offer free games and myths for your pleasure. We have recently added a simple yet interesting tile game to the collection and are researching some fire myths to add as well.

We sincerely hope 2006 brings you health, happiness and plenty opportunity to play.
